It makes me so happy that our weekly dinners have become a tradition in our house... It's something I look forward to every week! My roommates have made some awesome food lately and I have been so impressed by their cooking skills. Here are some things we learned about these countries that have moved us to prayer:
Poland: "Dreams of instant wealth from capitalism have proved elusive and hollow. Crime, violence and immorality are on the rise - particularly in the younger generation... Young people and students, while skeptical of organized religion are receptive to the good news of Jesus." I think I mentioned before how influential this generation is.
Japan: "The sincere, polite, hard-working Japanese are too busy to give heed to the gospel and understand little of what is right or wrong or of the meaning of sin because they do not know the Creator God. Most see the value of religion, 20% have a definite religion, but only 10% believe in the existence of a personal God... An average of 100 new religions are started each year - based on the occult, worship, of extra-terrestrial aliens and so on." We prayed for Japan 2 weeks ago and it hit me hard when I heard what happened there this past week.
India: "India has more (and larger) people groups with no Christians, churches or workers than any other part of the world." With 63% of the world's total lepers, 1/4 of the world's blind, around 1% of the country's population infected with AIDS, child labor, child prostitution and child abuse - there is much darkness and need in this place.
